Bennigan's French Onion Soup Recipe

Bennigan's Onion Soup Recipe

If is one of Your Favorite Appetizers, You will LOVE making Bennigan's French Onion Soup at Home with our Easy Recipe.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound firm White Onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Corn Oil
  • 3 tablespoons Flour
  • 1 quart Chicken Broth
  • 1 quart Beef Broth
  • 8 slices French Bread
  • Swiss Cheese, shredded
  • Parmesan Cheese, grated
Instructions
  1. Sauté onions in butter and oil until onions are transparent, but not well-browned. When tender, turn heat to lowest point.
  2. Sprinkle with flour, stirring vigorously.
  3. Pour into Dutch oven.
  4. Stir in broths.
  5. Heat thoroughly.
  6. Divide among 8 oven-proof bowls.
  7. Mix equal parts of cheese to a smooth paste. Spread over bread.
  8. Float a slice of bread atop each soup serving.
  9. Place all bowls on oven rack 4-inches from broiler heat.
  10. Broil until cheese melts. Serve at once.
  11. Leftover soup freezes well up to 6 months.
